Pollutec 2016: Vietnam is this year’s Guest of Honour

VOV.VN - The leading trade show for the environment and energy markets – Pollutec 2016 (November 29-December 2) – brings together 2,500 exhibitors and 60,000 visitors from all around the globe at Eurexpo Lyon in France.

Now in its 27th edition, Pollutec continues to attract large numbers of international visitors who share the aim of developing technological and commercial partnerships, obtaining technical information, discovering the latest international innovations, and meeting up with the best suppliers.

Pollutec is an ideal meeting-point for companies in the eco-industry seeking to export their expertise, equipment, technology and services, say the organizers.

Vietnam, a country currently enjoying strong economic growth, but also highly exposed to climatic risks, is committed to a development strategy based on openness and diversification, said the country’s Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Tran Hong Ha in a speech at the opening of the event.
Minister Ha noted that the country is currently in the process of re-orienting its industrial production towards household electronic goods, vehicle and boat manufacturing— and producing them in an environmentally friendly manner.

The themes of the sustainable city – access to safe drinking water, desalination, recycling of waste water, the management of urban waste, energy savings and renewable energy sources – are the main subjects of concern for the public authorities throughout the Southeast Asian country.

In addition, high on the agenda, said Minister Ha, is the management of natural risks such as sea level rise, saltwater intrusion into freshwater aquifers, violent monsoonsas well as the introduction of more responsible production systems in the country’s manufacturing facilities.

Green energy and economic growth are also among the key themes for the country in terms of development and investment, he added.

Having been selected Vietnam Country of the Year, the Vietnamese delegation, largely consisting of representatives from Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, enjoy a vast official pavilion and front row seat at various thematic conferences.
They are afforded the honour of being front and centre at interviews and on TV networks throughout France and the EU.

The Vietnamese delegation has many working meetings planned to enable its team of professionals to dialogue with specialists from the field of project management from other countries who will be attending the show.

Strongly focused on the transfer of skills and training, these practical workshops will for example deal with issues linked to the drawing up of specifications, bidding and other project management issues.

Pollutec 2016 is expecting over 700 exhibitors from countries outside France and numerous national pavilions with more than eleven national pavilions such as those from Flanders, Wallonia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Saxony, Bavaria, Austria, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, China and Japan.

Exhibitors are registered from Europe, Switzerland and Monaco, Turkey, Israel, China and from the Republic of Korea among others.

All these indicators lead the organizers of the trade show to anticipate the 2016 edition for which Vietnam is the Guest of Honour will be highly influential in terms of promoting international cooperation in the global environment and energy markets.
