Vietnam plans to send 400 athletes to the up-coming 16th Asian Games (ASIAD) in Guangzhou, China.
They will compete in 27 sports and hope to win between four and six gold medals.
Vietnam will also take part in the 2010 Youth Olympic Games in Singapore and the 2nd Asian Beach Games in Oman.
Vietnamese athletes will compete in chess, xiangqi, billiards, dance sport, karate, sepak takraw, shooting, taekwondo, weightlifting and wushu.
