A boy was killed and two others injured when an ore mine collapsed in Chau Hanh commune, Quy Chau district, central Nghe An province, on August 24.

All three victims, aged between 9 and 26, are from Chau Hanh commune. They followed their parents and relatives to illegally exploit ores for sale.

The injured people were sent to the district’s hospital and are reportedly in a critical conditions with brain wounds.

Local police and authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, which is the second in Nghe An within two weeks.

On August 13, a quarry broke out in Quynh Xuan commune of Quynh Luu district, leaving three people dead or injured.
