Filipino fishermen handed over

(VOV) - Border guards in the central Khanh Hoa province’s Nha Trang city on January 31 took five rescued Filipino fishermen to their embassy in Vietnam.

The distressed fishermen were rescued by a trawler from Phu Yen province when it was fishing in the waters of Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelago on December 26.

The Filipinos were provided with first aid, healthcare and accommodation during their stay.

Hector Reyes Herrera, an attaché from the Philippine Embassy thanked the province and the Vietnamese fishermen for their help and care to the Filipinos.

Since 2012, fishermen from Phu Yen, Binh Dinh, and Khanh Hoa provinces have rescued six fishing boats from the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia.
