Businesses from the US state of Texas want to expand cooperation with Vietnam. The view was shared by more than 70 representatives from businesses in the state at a reception for newly accredited Vietnamese Counsellor General Le Dung on Nov. 19.

They agreed that the establishment of the Vietnamese Consulate General in Houston will greatly contribute to strengthening economic, investment and education relations between Texas and Vietnam.

Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Port of Houston Authority, Jim Edmonds, said that the port is willing to receive Vietnamese goods and promote bilateral trade cooperation.

Counsellor General Le Dung highlighted Vietnam’s market economy with a great source of young and industrious labour. The country is considered a gate way to Southeast Asia and located next to China – the region’s largest market. Its investment environment is open and transparent as the Government always creates favourable conditions for investors, he noted.

Regarding investment attraction, Mr Dung emphasised that Vietnam will focus on some major fields, such as high technology, infrastructure development, human resources development, food processing, rural development and energy saving. He called on US enterprises to invest and run business in Vietnam.

“The Vietnamese Government will create the best possible conditions for your business operations as your success is also our success,” he said.
