The Prime Minister attributed last year’s national achievements to practical and effective emulation movements being launched across the country, which he said helped create a driving force behind significant socio-economic development. He said through these emulation movements, many exemplary models in all aspects of life were uncovered, encouraged and replicated across the country.
However, he pointed out shortcomings in the emulation and reward work that need to be addressed, including changes in the conscience of Party organisations and administrations at the grassroots level.
The Prime Minister asked sectors and localities to grasp the Directive of the Party Political Bureau, the Law on Emulation and Rewards and the Government’s Decree on the renewal of the emulation and reward work closely linked to set tasks and goals.
Mr Dung said that in 2007 emulation movements should be focused on fulfilling economic development tasks with an estimated growth of 8.5 percent, promoting the emulation movement to study and follow President Ho Chi Minh’s moral example, creating breakthroughs in public administrative reform, accelerating the fight against corruption and wastefulness and curbing traffic accidents.
He asked ministries, sectors and localities to identify their objectives and plans as well as measures to make their emulation movements more effective. To bring the Law on Emulation and Rewards to life, he also asked the council to submit any amendments to the existing law to the Government.
