Vietnamese martial artists won two silver medals at the World Karate Championship 2010 in Serbia on October 31.

In the individual female kata event, 2006 world karate champion Nguyen Hoang Ngan lost 0-5 to her partner Yohana Sanchez from Venezuela, winning the silver.

Vu Son Ha, head of the Karate section of the National Sports Administration said Hoang Ngan, was likely to have been affected by psychological factors in the final round.

Earlier, in the team kata women’s event, Vietnamese martial artists also lost 0-5 to Japan – a strong rival in the final match, to win the silver.

On November 2, Vietnam’s kata team will return home and train at the Hanoi National Sports and Training Centre before leaving for China to attend the upcoming 16th Asian Games.
