Buddhist Statue being built in Phu Tho

(VOV) - Construction of a Buddhist statue, the biggest of its kind in northern Vietnam began on a 15,000 m2 campus of Dong Kien pagoda in Phu Tho province on January 9.

The statue of Buddha, sitting in lotus position (23 m high) will be enclosed by the 6m-high standing statues of his 10 main disciples.

The concrete and steel statue costs an estimated VND10 billion sourced from donations by Buddhist followers inside and outside the country.

The construction of the statue is undertaken by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) and Phu Tho provincial Buddhist Church.
