Vietnam attends RoK-Vietnam Forum for the Future

The second edition of the 'Republic of Korea-Vietnam Forum for the Future' was opened in Seoul, the Republic of Korea (RoK) on March 19 to discuss strategic issues of mutual concern. 

Co-hosted by the Korea International Exchange Fund and the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, event participants included Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Shin-Dong-ik, President of the Korea Foundation Yu Hyun-seok and numerous officials and scholars from the host country.

The Vietnamese delegates are led by Professor Nguyen Xuan Thang, President of the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences and former Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thang noted that this year’s event is expected to open up dialogue opportunities for scholars of the two countries and contribute to strengthening the bilateral relationship and co-operation in the international arena. 

RoK government officials praised the growing ties between Vietnam and the RoK in recent years, affirming the RoK’s priority to further intensify their strategic partnership and bring prosperity to the two nations’ people, contributing to peace and stability in the region and internationally. 

The forum was organised with three sessions discussing: Vietnam-RoK relations and economic and foreign affairs co-operation, the Korean Peninsula and regional political situation, and bilateral cultural issues. 

Delegates at the event also discussed strategic issues of mutual concern including the conclusion of negotiations on the Vietnam-RoK free trade agreement and measures to promote cultural exchange and fortify collaboration at international forums.
