Foreign experts share land policy experiences with Vietnam

A international workshop was held in Hanoi on December 13 to share experience in revised contents of the 2003 Land Law.

The event, co-organised by the General Department of Land Management, the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) and the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID), drew the participation of representatives from Vietnam’s ministries, domestic and international experts from China , the Republic of Korea, Australia and Switzerland.

The delegates exchanged and discussed countries’ land law and policy experiences to complete regulations for the amended Land Law draft.

They focused on controversial issues, including the planning and leasing of land, changing land use, evaluating and revoking land, compensation, support and resettlement, land registration and electronic transactions. They also suggested Vietnam concentrate on land use and management.

The workshop is part of the Post-WTO Technical Support Programme’s project on international experience in land management and solutions to complete the land management and legal system to develop Vietnam’s property market.
