Deputy PM cracks down on smuggling and trade fraud

(VOV) -Combating trade fraud and smuggling is an import task of the entire Party and people, Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said at an April 8 meeting in Hanoi by the National Steering Committee for Anti-Smuggling, Trade Frauds and Counterfeit Goods.

"It is imperative to severely punish corrupt officers who have involved in trade fraud, or aided and abetted smugglers," he stressed.

Phuc, who is also Head of the National Steering Committee for Anti-Smuggling, Trade Frauds and Counterfeit Goods, raised his concern over the escalation of smuggling and trade fraud that have caused negative impact on people’s health and living conditions.

He asked relevant ministries, agencies and localities to make greater efforts in combating these crimes by promoting information dissemination and intensifying strict inspection against smuggling and trade fraud.

He proposed finalizing the legal scheme and offering local businesses more incentives to help them develop and protect their brand names in order to sharpen the competitive edge of Made-in-Vietnam products.
