New outbreaks of blue-ear pig disease have been detected in another three provinces, namely Kien Giang, Ben Tre and Can Tho, bringing the total number of infected localities to 24.

They include Nghe An, Cao Bang, Soc Trang, Tien Giang, Lao Cai, Long An, Binh Duong, Bac Lieu, Quang Nam, Dong Nai, Binh Phuoc, Da Nang, Vinh Long, Khanh Hoa, Dak Lak, Hau Giang, Lam Dong, Tay Ninh, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, An Giang, Dong Thap, Can Tho, Ben Tre and Kien Giang.

According to the Veterinary Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the deadly virus was found in 108 pigs in Thanh Phu commune, Co Do district in Can Tho province on August 19. Another 118 pigs in Minh Duc commune, Mo Cay Nam district in Ben Tre province were also infected by the disease. All the sick pigs have been culled.

Meanwhile, Kien Giang also declared the disease has spread to An Binh, An Hoa, Vinh Hiep, Vinh Loi, Vinh Lac, Rach Soi wards in Rach Gia City. The provincial Animal Health Department has culled all the sick pigs and taken measures to stop the disease spreading.
