Imports were US$8.78 billion more than exports in the first ten months, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI).
Exports in October increased by US$200 million compared to last month.
Total turnover of exports in the first ten months only reached US$46.3 billion, down 13.8 percent compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, turnover of imports in the first ten months gained US$55.1 billion, decreasing by 21 percent against the same period last year.
According to a forecast by the Ministry of Planning and Investment, by the end of this year, imports will exceed exports by US$11 billion.
