Algeria, Vietnam approve two judicial agreements

(VOV) - Vietnam and Algeria on February 26 signed off on agreements for cooperation in extradition and international criminal matters.

Vietnamese Minister of Justice Ha Hung Cuong and his counterpart Tayeb Louh gave their final approval to the agreements during Cuong’s four-day working visit to Algeria.

During their talks, Cuong and Louh discussed measures to boost their ministries’ long-standing ties of friendship and cooperation.

Cuong briefed his host on Vietnam’s Renewal achievements, emphasising that the country has revised its Constitution and is finalising the legal system to accelerate the building of the law-governed State.

He expressed his hope that the two ministries will share experience in completing legal institutions, including key Criminal, Civil and Proceedings laws, modernising the application of information technology, and training legal staff.

For his part, Minister Tayeb Louh dwelled on the need to foster bilateral cooperation to address a number of rising global challenges.

Algeria can learn much from Vietnam’s experience, especially in law enforcement in the new period, he said.

Cuong extended an invitation to his counterpart to visit Vietnam, and Louh readily accepted it.

The two ministers signed an annual cooperation plan, focusing on training and information sharing.

During the visit, the Vietnamese delegation worked with the Chief Judge of Algeria’s Supreme Court, Slimane Boudi.
