PM Phuc receives outgoing Danish Ambassador

VOV.VN - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has thanked outgoing Danish Ambassador Charlotte Laursen for her contribution to the development of ties between Vietnam and Denmark.

At a reception in Hanoi on December for the Danish diplomat who came to bid farewell marking the end of her tenure in Vietnam, PM Phuc reiterated Vietnam’s respect for its relations with Denmark and considers it an important partner in Northern Europe.

Despite far geographical distance from Vietnam, trade ties between the two nations have grown well with bilateral trade reaching over US$600 million last year.

The two countries are also augmenting cooperation in such areas as culture, health care, education and energy, including wind power, an area of Denmark’s strengths and good experiences helping Vietnam develop clean energy and protect the environment, Phuc said.

To step up  Vietnam-Denmark cooperation and Vietnam- EU cooperation as well, the PM asked Denmark to call for the EU’s early signing of the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement.

On this occasion, the Vietnamese government leader thanked the Danish Government for offering favorable conditions for Vietnamese nationals to study and live in Denmark, contributing to the good relationship between the two countries.

PM Phuc said he hopes with her experience, the ambassador will continue to support Vietnam-Denmark relations, adding that Vietnam values ties with Denmark, an important partner of the country in North Europe.

The Danish Ambassador said bilateral trade has gone well with some 130 Danish companies operating in Vietnam and that they desire to boost trade cooperation with Vietnam, especially in retailing.

She pledged further efforts to promote bilateral relations no matter her position in the future.
