UNDP helps Vietnam enhance disaster risk management capacity

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will jointly carry out a project to enhance disaster risk management capacity in Vietnam.

A budget of US$4.95 million, mainly funded by the UNDP, has been approved by the MARD for phase II of project “Institutional Capacity Building for Disaster Risk Management in Vietnam, particularly climate change - related risks”.

According to the Ministry, the project helps build a strategy and mechanism for implementing multilateral agreements and work out effective measures to reduce natural disaster risks and adapt to climate change.

The project is implemented in Hanoi and 20 other provinces and cities until 2016.
