Encouraging OVs to turn towards homeland

(VOV) - Encouraging Vietnamese expats to turn towards the homeland is the main objective of a cooperation programe launched by the Vietnam Red Cross Central Committee (VRCCC) and the Overseas Vietnamese Party Committee (OVPC).

Speaking at the launch ceremony in Hanoi on October 31, VRCCC President Nguyen Hai Duong said the programme will be carried out from November 2012 to 2015, to help disadvantaged people in the country.

Accordingly, the two sides will coordinate in disseminating Vietnam’s humanitarian policies and movements in support of the poor to Vietnamese people who are studying, working and living abroad.

They will encourage Vietnamese expats to provide humanitarian aid to disadvantaged people, and victims of natural disasters and Agent Orange victims back home.

The OVPC now has more than 10,000 members living and working in nearly 100 countries and territories across the world.

At the launch ceremony, the OVPC handed over VND50 million to the VRC as relief aid to storm victims in northern coastal provinces.
