A meeting of Vietnamese businesses operating in eight provinces in northern Laos took place in Udomxay province, 500km from Vientiane on September 26.

The event was organised by Vietnam’s consulate general in Luang Prabang.

Vietnam’s ambassador to Laos, Ta Minh Chau, and leaders of Udomxay province attended the event along with over 200 Vietnamese businesses operating in Laos.

At the meeting, delegates discussed the importance of Vietnam-Laos ties, defining responsibilities and business orientations for cooperation and investment. They also debated measures to develop businesses and create more jobs.

Vietnam is now deploying 104 projects in Laos with total investment capital of more than US$67 million in agriculture, forestry, energy, mining, wood processing, construction and tourism.

Apart from doing business, Vietnamese enterprises paid special attention to helping local people eradicate hunger and reduce poverty, build infrastructure, create jobs and increase income, thereby positively contributing to strengthening Vietnam-Laos ties.
