PM greets outgoing Israeli Ambassador

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc received Israeli Ambassador Meirav Eilon Shahar, who came to say good-bye at the end of her tenure, in Hanoi on June 24, during which he lauded the diplomat’s contribution to bolstering Vietnam and Israel relations.

Vietnam always treasures the friendly multi-faceted ties with Israel, the PM stressed, adding that he appreciated Israel’s decision to receive more Vietnamese students.

PM Phuc noted that the two countries had signed a memorandum of understanding on setting up a joint research fund, and promoted cooperation in high technology agriculture cooperation and security-defence industry.

The two countries have good potential for closer ties, especially in science-technology, security-defence, agriculture, training and trade, he said, expressing his hope for efficient measures to bolster cooperation in those fields, thereby fostering bilateral cooperation in a substantive manner.

For her part, Ambassador Meirav Eilon Shahar said that the two countries’ relations have seen good progress, which can be seen through the success of Israeli President Reuven Ruvi Rivlin’s recent State visit to Vietnam.  

The ambassador voiced her hope that two countries will open a direct flight in the coming time, creating favourable conditions for the implementation of joint programmes between Vietnamese and Israeli businesses.

She also affirmed that after returning to her homeland, she will continue to help foster the two countries’ relations.
