Nearly 10,000 people on August 10 in HCM City took part in a walk to raise funds for Vietnamese AO/Dioxin Victims. Over VND1.7 billion was donated by organisations and individuals.

The event was organised by the HCM City Red Cross Society (HRCS), which plans to use the money to subsidize 600 unemployed AO/Dioxin Victims on a regular basis with VND200,000/person, provide 200 scholarships (VND1 million per scholarship) and support 500 people in vocational training with between VND5-15 million each. They also intend to provide 100 houses of compassion with VND15 million per house and capital ranging from VND5 million to VND15 million for poor AO/Dioxin Victims to develop their economies.

All the money will be spent on taking care of AO/Dioxin Victims and assisting poor handicapped people in HCM City and other neighbouring localities.

Present at the walk were 600 representatives from the Vietnam Red Cross, Trade Unions and individuals who have donated blood.
