Vietnam’s Quang Tri province and Laos’ Savannakhet province held an annual meeting to review their border work on September 11.

They signed a memorandum of understanding on promoting the communication work to raise public awareness of the importance of planting border markers.

The two sides have already identified all the sub-landmarks and complied a profile of all the landmarks for submission to the two countries’ joint committee on border and demarcation work.

So far, 31 out of 35 border markers have been erected along the borderline between the two countries. The remaining will be installed in the second quarter of 2013.
