Venezuela’s Independence Day celebrated in Hanoi

A banquet was held in Hanoi on July 5 to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Venezuelan Independence Day (July 5) in the presence of Venezuelan Ambassador to Vietnam Jorge Rondon Uzcategui.

In his speech, Mr Uzcategui expressed his wish for long-standing ties of friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Venezuela and praised Vietnam’s efforts to achieve sustainable growth and prosperity.

200 years ago, Venezuela’s Declaration of Independence was made the public, representing a great historic landmark in the revolutionary struggle for independence and freedom of Venezuelan people as well as American Latin nations.

To uphold its glorious tradition in the light of national hero Simon Bolivar’s indomitable thoughts, Venezuela has recorded significant renewal achievements in the process of developing itself which helped develop it into a strong and prosperous nation with its international status rising constantly in the region and the world, said the Venezuelan diplomat.

Deputy Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh extended his best wishes to the Venezuelan ambassador and people and belief that Venezuela will further success in national construction and defense.

Since diplomatic ties was established in 1989, the ties of friendship, solidarity and cooperation between Vietnam and Venezuela have developed fruitfully in various fields such as economics, trade, energy, science and technology, agriculture, culture and education into a comprehensive relationship despite facing problems of geographical distance, Mr Minh emphasized.

Both countries are preparing for the second session of the Inter-Governmental Committee to make bilateral cooperation more effective and substantial in the future.
