The event drew over 200 Judokas from 11 countries and territories in the Asian region: Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Republic of Korea (RoK), Japan and the host, Vietnam.

Vietnam is competing with five teams: VN1, VN2, VN3 (the army), VN4 (Ho Chi Minh City) and VN5 (comprised of young athletes from other provinces, cities and departments nationwide).

The Judokas will compete in 16 weight categories, men at 55-100 kg and women at 45-78 kg.
