Japan’s Kyodo News Agency has always been an important and reliable partner of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA), said VNA’s General Director Tran Mai Huong.

Huong made the remark at a working session with a high-ranking delegation of Kyodo News, led by its President Satoshi Ishikawa, in the capital city of Hanoi on November 22.

VNA highly valued the information provided by Kyodo News, considering it an official and reliable information source, he said, adding that the Tokyo-based VNA Bureau had received valuable cooperation and assistance from Kyodo News.

VNA wants to receive assistance and the benefit of experience from Kyodo News in terms of managing professional activities, providing video and photo news, using technology to provide information on the internet and improving Japanese language skills for VNA reporters, editors and technicians, he said.

Ishikawa affirmed his support and congratulated VNA on its launching of multimedia news programmes. Kyodo News was willing to share its experience with VNA, especially in providing mobile phone news service and video news.

Following the working session, Huong and Ishikawa signed a memorandum of understanding on future bilateral cooperation between VNA and Kyodo News.

Later in the day, the Vietnam Journalists’ Association’s (VJA) President Dinh The Huynh received Ishikawa and his delegation at the VJA headquarters.
