Quang Ninh coal mine accident kills six workers

(VOV) - Six dead bodies of miners have been pulled out of a coal pit in Quang Ninh province after suffocating in a fire 100m deep underground on January 15.

The fire broke out at around 11.30pm at the Dong Vong Coal Mine Company in Dong Trieu district. 

On hearing the news, representatives of Dong Vong company and relevant agencies rushed to the scene to extinguish the roaring fire and rescue miners trapped underground.

The blaze was said to spread quickly and seven people were injured.

By the morning of January 16, rescue workers had retrieved the bodies of the six victims.

Quang Ninh province and Dong Trieu district provided emergency relief worth VND12 million each to the bereaved.
