Ho Chi Minh Highway is of historic and strategic significance to the country’s socio-economic development and national modernisation and industrialisation. The construction of the highway will be completed by 2020.

National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong visited a construction site of

Ho Chi Minh Highway
, at the Ngoc Hoi - Tan Canh - Dak To section of Kon Tum province on January 9.


The NA Chairman praised the active working spirit and tireless efforts of experts and labourers of the Civil Engineering Construction Corporation 5 (Cienco 5) to fulfil their tasks. Chairman Trong also encouraged the corporation’s staff to do their best to ensure the progress and the quality of construction work.


The same day, the NA Chairman also visited the Bo Y International Border Gate, Ngoc Hoi district and Dak Uy Coffee Company in Kon Tum province. Chairman Trong asked the company’s staff to make greater efforts in boosting production and business activities and further improve workers’ living standards. He said that the company should improve the quality of goods, apply advanced technology and science into production, and improve the staff’s qualifications to penetrate the world market, especially when Vietnam becomes the 150th member of the World Trade Organsiation.


Earlier, the NA Chairman visited and presented gifts to border post unit 637 in A Luoi district, central Thua Thien Hue province. He praised its great efforts to ensure security for the 40km section of

Ho Chi Minh Highway
in A Luoi district while actively participating in production, improving people’s living standards and building a strong unit.
