Party chief ends official visit to China

(VOV) - On April 10, Party leader Nguyen Phu Trong left Kunming City, Yunnan province for Hanoi, successfully concluding his four-day official visit to China at the invitation of General Secretary and President Xi Jinping.

During the visit from April 7-10 the Party leader met with General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, Premier Li Keqiang, Chairman of the National People’s Congress Zhang Dejiang, and Chairman of the Chinese People’s Consultative Conference Yu Zhengsheng to examine ways to enhance relations between the two parties and governments.

They said the successful visit would contribute to a developing a stable and healthy Vietnam-China relationship.

Trong and Xi Jinping met Vietnamese and Chinese youth during the 15th China-Vietnam youth exchange.

He also met with representatives from the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the China-Vietnam Friendship Association and a number of former Chinese experts and diplomats, who worked in Vietnam.

On his way from Yunnan to Hanoi, the General Secretary sent a message of thanks to Chinese Party General Secretary and State President Xi Jinping in which he expressed in firm confidence that the visit would contribute to solidifying friendship and political trust as well as deepening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Vietnam and China for the development and benefit of their respective country.

During the stay, Vietnamese delegates held bilateral meetings with Chinese partners, attended the launch of Vietjet Air flights linking Vietnamese and Chinese localities, and toured some Yunnan firms.

Concluding the visit, both sides issued a joint communique affirming the outcomes of the visit and key perceptions reached between Party and State leaders so as further develop the Vietnam-China neighbourly friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in a healthy, stable and sustainable manner for the sake of the two peoples and for peace, stability and prosperity in the region and the wider word.
On the occasion, the Chinese press spotlighted activities of Party General Secretary Trong.

Xinhua News Agency, the People’s Daily newspaper, and the People's Liberation Army Daily reserved their front pages to cover Mr. Trong’s visit, including high-ranking talks and meetings with Chinese leaders.

China’s Global Times newspaper ran an article by a Voice of Vietnam (VOV) correspondent in Beijing entitled “The two Parties’ exchanges are of special importance in Vietnam-China relations”.

The article said Vietnam-China relations are special ties and any conflicts and differences could be settled if both countries maintain regular high-ranking exchanges and an open dialogue channel.

Other major newspapers, such as the People’s Liberation Army Daily, Youth Daily, and Guangming Daily, also ran articles and photos about the Vietnamese Party leader’s visit on their front pages.
