A high ranking delegation of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) led by Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong returned to Hanoi on October 15, concluding an official visit to China.

Before leaving Shenzhen city, Guangdong province, Mr Trong made a tour of Zhong Xing Telecommunication Equipment Co. Ltd. (ZTE), China's largest listed telecommunications manufacturer and wireless solutions provider which has obtained achievements in investment cooperation in Vietnam. He also visited Shenzhen Mindray Bio-Medical Electronics Co., Ltd .– a leading producer of high-tech electro-medical equipment in China and the world.

During his stay from October 11-15, General Secretary Trong held talks with General Secretary and President of China Hu Jintao, and met with other top Chinese Party and State leaders including chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress Wu Bangguo, Premier Wen Jiabao, Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference Jia Qinglin, Vice President Xi Jinping, and Vice Premier Li Keqiang.

Both sides informed each other of the situation in their respective countries and discussed measures to further strengthen relations between the two Parties and States. They also exchanged views on regional and international issues of mutual concern. They reached a consensus on the results of the talks and meetings.

Vietnam and China released a joint statement following Mr Trong’s visit to China.

In a telegram cabled to Mr Hu, Mr Trong expressed his belief that with the effort and determination from both sides, the common consensus and agreements reached during his visit will be implemented effectively and substantially, bringing the Vietnam-China strategic comprehensive cooperative partnership to a new height for happiness of the two countries’ people, socialism and for peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the rest of the world.

He wished Chinese people, under the leadership of the Communist Party of China, greater achievements in national development.
