The plea of wild birds
Wildlife poaching has reached an alarming level in Phan Thiet, a city in the south-central Vietnamese province of Binh Thuan, as wild animals are hunted wherever they live.
Chasing quick profits, illegal hunters are damaging the natural ecosystem, as well as pushing many species of birds and other animals toward extinction.
Below are a series of photos by Pham Van Thanh demonstrating how wild birds are being killed by man-made traps.
These photos were one of the entries to Tuoi Tre (Youth) Newspaper's year-long competition themed “Vietnam – Country – People" concluding last month.
