More than 186,000 tons of lychees consumed

VOV.VN - Northern Bac Giang province had sold around 186,129 tons of lychees with an estimated revenue of more than VND5.285 trillion as of June 17, according to Tran Quang Tan, director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade.

Lychees have been shipped to more than 30 countries and territories such as the EU, Russia, the US, Canada, China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, Thailand and Singapore. China topped the consumers of Vietnamese lychees, having bought around 68,000 tons valued at US$120.5 million up to June 27.

At present around 170 Chinese and more than 1,000 Vietnamese traders are purchasing lychees in Luc Ngan district. Tan Yen, Yen The and Lang Giang districts have all but sold out of the fruit.

The price of Luc Ngan lychees remains stable at around VND6,000-VND21,000 per kilo depending on the quality and appearance of the fruit. Meanwhile, the retail price of lychees in Ho Chi Minh city ranges from VND13,000-30,000 per kilo.

The lychee harvest season will come to an end in the next 10-15 days.
