Hungary, Vietnam boost education cooperation

(VOV) - Vietnamese Minister of Education and Training Pham Vu Luan and Hungarian Minister of Human Resources Zoltan Balog signed an education and training cooperation agreement on March 4.

The agreement is the result of Minister Zoltan’s working visit to Vietnam.

Zoltán noted 240 Vietnamese are currently studying in Hungary, mostly in medical specialisations. Hungary wants to expand its cooperation with Vietnam into a diverse range of fields, including human resource training, healthcare, nuclear energy, and electricity generation.

Vietnamese students in Hungary

Hungary welcomes the Vietnamese students who have chosen the European country for their doctoral degree pursuits, he added.

Minister Luan thanked the Hungarian Government and people for their valuable assistance, saying thousands of Vietnamese students who studied in Hungary are holding key posts in various sectors in Vietnam.

Vietnam wants to learn from Hungary’s education renovation experiences, particularly in tertiary and post-graduate training, Luan said.

He proposed that Vietnamese trainees receive additional Hungarian support, and pledged to create the conditions for them to study abroad. He recommended Hungary’s universities coordinate with Vietnamese institutions to recruit local students and issue Hungarian certificates.

Both sides agreed to establish joint working groups to implement the cooperation agreement and strengthen bilateral education ties.
