Vietnam – Cuba diplomatic ties marked in HCM City
(VOV) -The 55th anniversary of the Vietnam – Cuba diplomatic relationship (1960-2015) was celebrated in HCM City on December 3 by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) and the Vietnam – Cuba Friendship Association of HCM City.
In a speech, Deputy Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Tat Thanh Cang hailed the constant development of Vietnam – Cuba friendship, becoming a precious asset of the two nations, saying Vietnam always treasures Cuba’s solidarity and wholehearted support for Vietnam in its past struggles for independence as well as in the current national reconstruction and development.
He called for closer cooperation, noting that the two-way trade exchange between the city and Cuba has been modest in the past years. However, the situation will change for better as Cuba is carrying out new economic policies.
Both nations should step up cooperation in hi-tech agriculture, consumer goods manufacturing, and mechanic industry for agriculture, said Cang.
Bernabe Garcia Valido, Cuba’s General Consul in HCM City said the sound Vietnam - Cuba relationship provides a firm foundation for deep and extensive cooperation in all fields to promote economic links in line with political ties.
At the ceremony, the VUFO and the Vietnam – Cuba Friendship Association presented prizes to winners of the painting competition with the theme “Vietnam – Cuba Friendship,” launched in September.
