State Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan on May 28 presented gifts and VND10 million to abandoned and orphaned children being cared at Bo De Pagoda in Hanoi’s Long Bien district on the occasion of International Children’s Day (June 1).

She commended the pagoda’s monks and nuns for bringing up the disadvantaged children and called on benefactors to raise funds to improve the children’s physical and spiritual lives.

Over the past 20 years, Bo De Pagoda has cared for more than 150 disadvantaged children. Currently it is bringing up 53 such children aged between 10 days and 18 years.

The same day, the Hanoi Children’s Protection Fund also gave gifts to the children at the pagoda.
