Vietnam welcomes projects from Russia: Vice President

Vietnam welcomes investors from Russia and Kursk province in particular and will provide them with all possible support, Vice President Dang Thi Ngoc Thinh told Kursk Governor Alexander Mikhailov during a reception in Hanoi on December 7.

The host expressed her belief that the signing of the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union will offer new opportunities to localities, adding that trade between Vietnam and Kursk is still modest at only US$2-3 million compared to Vietnam-Russia trade, which currently hits US$3 billion per year. 

She wished that Kursk and the central province of Ninh Thuan would enhance partnership in agriculture and industry, and suggested the Kursk authorities offer further assistance to apparel joint ventures between Vietnamese companies and local partners operating in the province.

Governor Mikhailov informed the host that he will attend business forums in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Ninh Thuan, which he said, will offer opportunities to develop economic ties between Kursk and Vietnamese localities. 

Kursk is strong in agriculture and willing to export sugar and cereals to Vietnam, he said, adding that local firms are willing to invest in Vietnam.
