The Dak Lak Rubber Company from the Central Highland province of Dak Lak has developed 2,800 ha of rubber and other industrial trees in the southern Lao provinces of Champassak, Saravan and Attopeu during this year’s rainy season.

This has raised the total acreage of industrial crops in Laos’ southern provinces to over 9,000 ha, including 8,000 ha of rubber plants, 700 ha of cashew plants, 200 ha of coffee trees and 80 ha of eucalyptus.

The company has been carrying out a US$30-million project to develop 10,000 ha of rubber and industrial plants in the southern Lao provinces since 2004 under an economic cooperation programme between the two countries.
