A delegation of doctors from University of New York visited Central Highland Dak Nong province’s polyclinic on October 10 and 11.

The American doctors joined the local colleagues in conducting four surgeries for local patients with gallstone and fibromata. They also presented the hospital with several medical facilities worth US$40,000.

The New York doctors appreciated their local colleagues’ efforts in providing free medical care for poor ethnic minority people despite poor working conditions. Every day the hospital in coordination with the Red Cross and the Committee for the Solidarity of Catholics provide free meals for nearly 100 poor patients.

Prof. Gerald Zelikovsky, head of the visiting delegation, said that he and his teammates are willing to return to Dak Nong province to help local poor patients. He promised to call on donors to present more medical equipment to the hospital and help train its personnel.
