Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung: corrupt officials will be severely punished because if the Government cannot undertake this task it will lose citizens’ trust.

The Corruption Crime Investigation Department (CCID) under the General Department of Police, the Ministry of Public Security was unveiled in Hanoi on February 3.

Speaking at the ceremony, PM Nguyen Tan Dung highlighted that corruption will lose citizens’ trust in both Party and Government. It is a danger threatening the existence of a regime. Therefore, preventing and pushing back corruption is a special task of the Party and Government.

PM urged the CCID to grasp the Party’s orientations and State policies on anti-corruption and to comprehensively implement anti-corruption measures. Violation cases must be solved strictly and clearly in order to avoid public suspicions. Mr Dung also emphasised that corrupt officials will be severely punished because if the Government cannot undertake this task it will lose citizens’ trust. He asked the CCID to complete investigations into eight cases which have drawn great public attention.

On the occasion, PM Dung presented CCID officials and staff with words: determination, justice, solidarity and victory.
