VFF leader hosts outgoing UN Resident Coordinator

VOV.VN - President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan has hailed Pratibha Mehta, UN Resident Coordinator in Vietnam for her initiatives to support the country across a variety of fields.

At a reception for the UN official October 18, the VFF President said Vietnam is an active and responsible UN member, adding that the VFF has played an active role in improving people’s living standards, promoting democracy and spurring economic growth.

Vietnam has a lot of opportunities while realizing the UN Millennium Development Goals, especially those afforded by international integration, Nhan noted, expressing his wish that Pratibha Mehta will continue to offer more initiatives in cooperation with Vietnam.

Pratibha Mehta in turn said she was impressed by achievements Vietnam has recorded in a broad array of areas during her tenure. She suggested the Vietnamese Party and State continue to offer favourable conditions for the country’s youths to make more contributions to national construction.

She also pledged to offer more incentives and share experience with Vietnam in multitude of fields.
