Minh enters HK Open Badminton quarter-finals
(VOV) -Vietnam’s top badminton player successfully turned the table and defeated Taiwan’s Hsu Jen Hao to qualify for the finals of the Hong Kong Open Badminton Championships on November 22.
Despite having been defeated twice in their previous encounters, Hao caused trouble for his stronger rival.
Minh led the start of the first set but Hao fought back valiantly for a narrow win 24-22.
The two players competed fiercely in the second, set forcing the Vietnamese champion to work hard for four successive points to settle it 21-18.
The tiebreaker in the third showed Minh’s determination to overcome Hao 21-14 after nearly one and a half hour of desperate battle.
Minh is scheduled to face the winner of the match between World No.1 Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia and India’s Ajay Jayaram.
