Chinese President Hu Jintao will pay state visits to the United States, Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Nigeria and Kenya from April 18 to 29, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao on April 11.

During a four-day trip in the US, beginning on April 18, President Hu will visit Seattle and Washington D.C., and he is also expected to give a speech at Yale University in Connecticut, Mr Liu said.

President Hu will meet with US President George W. Bush and other US officials during his visit, the spokeman said, adding that the two sides will hold in-depth discussions on China-US relations and other international and regional issues of common concern.

In another development, Chinese aviation officials signed a deal on Tuesday to buy 80 Boeing 737 planes, one of more than 100 contracts worth US$16.2 billion that Chinese companies are expected to sign for US goods and services ahead of President Hu Jintao's visit to the United States next week.

Boeing said in a statement it planned to finalize the agreements for the single-aisle planes with individual Chinese airlines over the next few weeks.

Chinese airlines confirmed orders for 50 of the 737s in December and another 20 at the end of January.
