Vietnam plans to provide vocational training for all 100,000 labourers that it plans to send abroad by 2015. The target is set in a project on vocational training for guest workers, which was approved recently by the Prime Minister.

Under the project, all workers will have to take foreign language class before going abroad.

To reach the target, the network of vocational training establishments for guest workers will be expanded and strengthened, further study of foreign labour markets will be undertaken and closer international cooperation will be pursued.

In 2005, Vietnam sent nearly 70,600 workers abroad, a 5 percent year-on-year increase. The number of Vietnamese workers in traditional markets has markedly increased, including over 30,000 workers in the Republic of Korea, 10,000 workers in Malaysia, 90,000 workers in Taiwan and 20,000 workers in Japan.
