Legal experts in economic cooperation from Cambodia, China, France, Laos and Vietnam gathered in Hanoi on February 2 to discuss a legislative framework for economic activities in the Asia-Pacific region.

At the two-day conference, discussions focussed on matters relating to integration and changes in the construction of market laws in the region, and challenges emerging from regulating the regional market through laws.

Some 15 reports presented at the workshop touched upon issues relating international contract negotiations in Vietnam in the context of economic integration after the country became an official member of the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

The building of laws on private ownership and intellectual property in Vietnam, and the reform of the country's investment law were also under discussion.

The conference was co-hosted by the Association of Justice Chief Executives (AJCE), in collaboration with the French Embassy, the Francophone University Agency, the Centre of French Universities and the Vietnamese-French Law House.
