Egyptian President concludes state visit to Vietnam

During the visit, the two State leaders discussed ways to boost bilateral ties and organize activities to celebrate the 55th anniversary of diplomatic ties next year and provide mutual support at the UN. 

They agreed to augment cooperation in various fields and work closely for progress and prosperity in each region. They affirmed the importance of strengthening international cooperation in combating terrorism and their determination to work for a maritime order in line with the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

Both sides agreed to boost collaboration in the fields of standards and quality, while increasing cultural exchange activities, including the organisation of cultural days and weeks in the respective countries.

They consented to strengthen the exchange of delegations through Government, National Assembly, locality, and people-to-people links and connection between the two business communities, along with continuously promoting the efficiency of the existing cooperation mechanisms such as the Intergovernmental Committee and political consultations, thus deepening mutual understanding.

The leaders pledged to create the best conditions for businesses of both sides to access the respective markets, aiming to raise two-way trade to US$1 billion in the near future.

During his stay, the Egyptian leader paid a courtesy call to Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, held talks with President Tran Dai Quang, and had meetings with Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

On the occasion, the two sides released a joint press statement highlighting the outcome of President Sisi’s visit, saying it marked a milestone in strengthening bilateral friendship and all-around cooperation.
