The telegram noted that the storm is moving toward Vietnam and forecast to reach the country’s coastal areas by noon July 30. The northern city of Hai Phong and the central province of Ha Tinh are forecast to be hit by the storm, which is measured at category 10 or 11, gusting up to category 13.

The Prime Minister asked the Central Steering Committee for Flood and Storm Prevention and Control, the National Committee for Search and Rescue and the People’s Committees of coastal provinces from Quang Ninh to Phu Yen to be braced for the threat of the coming storm.

He stressed the need to protect dyke networks, prepare rescue plans and relief aid, and to disseminate information on the potential natural disaster.
