Top Vietnamese badminton player, Nguyen Tien Minh, has qualified for the semi-finals of the ongoing Yonex Chinese Taipei Open 2011.

Minh, the world’s No. 7 seed, earned his place on September 9 after defeating Shon Wan Ho from the Republic of Korea 2-1. Minh had trounced the Korean rival in two previous matches.

In the semi-final, the Vietnamese player will meet Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk from Thailand, who is seeded No. 15 in the competition.

The five-day tournament, which also includes men's and women's doubles and mixed doubles events, has prizes worth a total of US$200,000 and will last through September 11.
