More than 780,000 candidates in groups B,C and D have registered to take part in the second phase of tertiary entrance exams for universities and colleges in 2008 from July 9 to 10.

Candidates will complete their procedures and hear about exam regulations at exam venues on July 8.

In the second phase of tests there are 323,078 candidates in Group B, 153,909 in Group C, 222,500 in Group D, and 82,045 students in other groups. The figures show an increase in the number of candidates in Group B and D but a slight decrease in the number of candidates in Group C (down by 0.2 percent compared to last year).

According to statistics, the total number of candidates in the second phase is higher than in the first phase. Therefore, the examination councils of universities and institutes were asked to make thorough preparations to help students complete all necessary procedures.

The Ministry of Education and Training has urged relevant agencies, universities and institutes to create the best possible conditions for candidates to take part in the exams.

The Ministry of Education and Training has also sent a telegram to universities and colleges, requesting them to adopt strict measures to deal with any violations during the exams.

The first phase of tertiary entrance exams successfully concluded on July 4 despite some shortcomings, such as traffic jams, especially around exam venues.
