Over 350 sports scientists and experts flocked to a three-day international symposium on sports sciences opened in Ho Chi Minh City on August 27.

The participants come from China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, Russia, France, Belgium and Taiwan, in addition to domestic experts from major sports and scientific research centres. They focused their open day discussions on the China’s excellent organisation of the Beijing Olympics and its lead in the Olympic standing.

Dr. Ye Jia Bao from the Tienjin Sports University of China highlighted an opportunity of reforms for Chinese sports in the post-Olympic era with the Government’s less involvement in the sports sector and gradually leaving it to the market demand.

Other sports experts from China shared experiences in the sports legal system and a hi-tech Olympic model.

Scientists from Japan introduced medical-biological sports and physical exercises to prevent obesity and diabetes.

Taiwanese experts shared experiences in raising funds for sports and sports marketing.
The workshop is scheduled to hold several seminars on different topics related to sports in the next two days. Seminars on entertainment, tourist sports and sea sports will take place in Mui Ne, southern Binh Thuan province, where a sea sports club model is in the making.
