The Vietnamese government always attaches great importance to ensuring social security and considers this a key factor in maintaining sustainable socio-economic development, said Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung.
Mr Hung made the statement at the 26th meeting of the ASEAN Social Security Association (ASSA) board in Hanoi on September 16.
He emphasised that ASSA plays an important role in implementing the pillar of social security in the ASEAN community. The Association is the region’s largest social security forum that ensures social welfare for all ASEAN citizens.
The Deputy PM asked ASSA members to strengthen cooperation, share experience, work out measures to deal with challenges posed by an aging population and unemployment, and provide better healthcare services.
Established more than ten years ago, ASSA is a social security cooperation forum that plays an important role in social security development in the region.
