All localities across the countries are completing preparations for the 12th National Assembly Election, which will take place on May 20.

On May 4, State President Nguyen Minh Triet and four other candidates for the NA election met with more than 1,000 voters at constituency N01 in Ho Chi Minh City.


Voters raised their questions concerning the programmes of each candidate and social problems such as corruption, supervision responsibilities of NA deputies, implementation of laws, compensation for land clearance, granting land owning certificates, administration reform, medical insurance and education reform.


At the meeting, State President Triet affirmed his strong determination to fight against corruption and wastefulness, and to closely direct relevant organizations to better carry out the task.


* In central Thanh Hoa province, 29 candidates for the NA election were given reports by the leaders of the provincial people’s committee on socio-economic development as well as targets for 2010 so that they can develop their action plans when meeting with voters. All preparatory work for the NA election has nearly been completed. The province has established 4,652 election groups and all polling stations have listed candidates and their biographies.


* Northern Bac Kan province has established 812 polling stations and listed 201,116 voters.


* In northern Cao Bang province, candidates for the NA election have met with a number of voters in Cao Bang town and Binh Nguyen district and plan to meet with other voters living at 26 sites in the province.


* Candidates for the NA election in Son La and Bac Giang provinces are also ready to meet with voters.
