200 senior officials of Vietnam’s ministries and agencies and representatives of international organizations attended the ASEAN-OECD seminar on administrative reforms on November 25.

Speaking at the seminar, in the presence of Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Chairman of the Office of Government, and Mario Amano, Deputy Secretary-General of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son emphasized that administrative reforms are one of the top priorities in each nation’s development policies.

The process requires not only effort from every member state  but also international cooperation, said Son.

The Deputy Minister also highly appreciated OECD’s role in assisting to its member countries and ASEAN countries with institutional and administrative reforms, which helps them integrate into the world and improve their competitiveness.

As ASEAN  is expected to be a launch pad for economic growth in the post-crisis period, the seminar will be a good opportunity for ASEAN countries and OECD to exchange experiences and ideas, as well as work out methods for administrative reforms.

During the two-day event, participants will focus their discussion on effective ways of reforming and improving administrative procedures.

OECD is about to make public a report on the outcomes of the implementation of the Master Plan of Vietnam’s Administrative Procedures Simplification in the fields of state management for the period of 2007-2010.
